The week in one paragraph

A give-back week: the Pulse Index eased −1.35% to 98.97 and the average watch fell −2.58% to 99.22, undoing most of the prior week's gains. The market actually firmed midweek, with a sharp Wednesday session (Sep 9) and a Saturday recovery (Sep 12), but both moves faded fast. Sunday (Sep 13) closed the week at the softest print, with sales pace dropping to its lowest level of the period. Breadth was mixed rather than one sided: 6 of 14 watches gained against 8 decliners, and the clearest story of the week was a rotation gap rather than a broad move in either direction: current production Submariner Date pulled sharply ahead of its discontinued predecessor.

Movers of the week

Watch7 dayRead
Submariner Date (126610LN)+7.9%Current production Sub decisively ahead of its own discontinued sibling this week
Submariner Hulk (116610LV)+6.8%Second straight firm week for the green ceramic model
Explorer II (226570)+4.3%Spiked midweek and gave much of it back by Sunday. Sample sizes here ran as low as 2 to 5 prints a day, so treat the size of this move with real caution
Datejust 41 Smooth (126300)−6.6%The week's weakest performer, giving back recent strength
Submariner Date, prev gen (116610LN)−5.4%Discontinued execution trailing its current production sibling by more than 13 points this week
Explorer 36 (124270)−4.7%Entry tier softness. Another naturally thin sample reference, prints ran 3 to 8 a day

Liquidity read

Confirmed sales averaged 140/day this week, well below the 185 baseline, and the week's shape leaned heavier early than late. Thursday (Sep 10) was the busiest session at 184 confirmed sales, and activity held near that pace through Friday and Saturday before falling off a cliff into Sunday (Sep 13): just 110 confirmed sales and $1.84M in dollar flow, the quietest day of the period. Dollar flow averaged roughly $2.4M/day across the seven days, for a total of about $17.0M for the week. Spreads between Bob's Watches buy prices and Chrono24 asking prices moved with the price swings but stayed inside their recent range all week, with no bracket violations on any tracked reference.

Worth watching next week: our upstream data partner now reads the last several days' drop in genuinely new Rolex listings (roughly half the normal weekday pace) as a real supply side pullback rather than a weekend artifact, since two independent measurement passes agree on it. It has not yet shown up as a shortage in sold volume on our side, but it is the clearest emerging signal in the data right now.
Methodology notes: Prices are market values (asking prices adjusted by the observed ask to sold gap), computed from roughly 14,000 to 14,700 tracked listings with manipulation screens, evidence weighted updating, and mix shift controls. A sale counts only after it is verified missing across two consecutive daily sweeps. Explorer II and Explorer 36 are naturally lower volume references in this basket, so their week to week reads carry more noise than the rest of the group.
